I got back from the army yesterday, and surprisinlgy or not surprisingly i'm not quite sure it was very enjoyable, but it wasn't the real army at all anyway. I was volunteering on army base called Julis which is near Ashkelon, and I was with Ben Jacobs' group, but he wasn't there cause he's in England at the moment and there were some other people too. We were greeted by our three mefakdot (which is like a commander or sergeant) who were these 3 girls who looked about our age or a bit older. We had to get our army uniforms, which took ages cos everyone had to swap them loads of times becausee they were either too big or too small.

Our mefakdot acted like proper mefakdot, so they shouted at us and told us to tuck our shirts in and stuff, and whenever we went anywhere round the base we had to meet in an open square shape and then say this line to our mefakdot and then walk in two lines, but they were being much less harsh than how they do it in the real army. So for the first 2 days i was working in the tank department of the base where i had to bolt in the floor of a tank and bolt in somew other sdtuff, and i spent the rest of the time washing tanks with this really cool power hose. The other days I was working in the kitchen and dining room where i had to sort out the cutlery and we (there were 4 ofus working there) had to wash the floors and cut vegetables and during lunch time i had to work on the big conveyor belt dishwasher taking out the clean plates and stuff which was actually quite fun and it was like a race because you had to try and take out all the stuff before it went past.

And then on wendesday our mefakdot put on a little treasure hunt thing for us and at the end we got to our common room thing and they were there in their civilian clothes breaking the distance (that's apparently what it's called when they become normal people and not mefakdot). It was really funny because they were actually really nice and we got to ask them loads of questions and they were only 18, 19 and 21. and then for the rest of the week they were just our leaders and we didn't have to stand to attention and stuff.
