The weekend and stuff

On the weekend i went to my cousins, which i'm very pround of, cause i actually called them up, which is not like me and i went there without any of my family. But it was really good and they were very angry about how much money we were being given and my cousins husband said he was going to phone the mayor, but i said he shouldn't. I was a bit scared to eat there as last time i ate there i got food poisoning, but the food was actually quite nice. And they gave me loads of stuff for the flat: sheets, a pillow, a duvet, a pan, a kettle, and lots of food including milky bar buttons to remind me of home. And they told me that i should move in with them for the month, because it would be much better and it wouldn't affect them at all i'd just be absorbed into the family. But i think i'm going to refuse because going on a gap year isn't about going to live with family.

Today was my second day on the ambulances and i think it's too early to work out what i feel about it. Yesterday i had five calls, and four of them were old people with respiratory problems, but because i'm new i'm not doing too much, as all of the more experienced people do the hard stuff, even though there actually hasn't been anything particularly hard on any of my calls. Ive mostly been taking pulses and blood pressure and i've wheeled the bed around alot. My best job so far might have been holding an umbrella over this old man as we wheeled him outside to the ambulance, it was very difficult, the driver kept and pushing my hand to make sure i was covering the man as best as i could. But quite a lot of the time is spent at the ambulance station which is quite boring, as the shifts are 8 hours long. There's a tv and i bring my book, but it's still really boring just waiting for something to happen. But i think after a while it will get better, and it's weird that i'm getting used to driving fast with the sirens blaring really loudly.
